Q Before your appointment?
A Try not to brush your teeth for at least 6-12 hours prior to the whitening process. This will help avoid sensitivity. Drink plenty of water and be sure to eat prior to your appointment as you can not eat for 2 hours post teeth whitening.
Q During your appointment?
A: Bring headphones for entertainment during the whitening process as you will have some downtime while you are processing. Clients will go have three 20-minutes whitening “rounds”.
● The first round will remove any noticeable stains (food, natural decay, etc.).
● The second round will penetrate past the normal day to day stains and lift remaining stains on the enamel
layer. The second round will begin to whiten the dentin layer of the teeth.
● The third round removes intrinsic staining and is the most effective round of whitening. The goal is to whiten
the dentin layer of the tooth and this is done in the third round of whitening.
Q After your appointment? A
● Clients should drink plenty of water to reduce sensitivity but should avoid food and any beverages for the next two hours.
● Whitening will continue to take place for the next 24 hours as their pores are still open and the processing is still happening.
● Avoid dark foods, beverages or other substances for the next 24 hours.
● Clients should brush very gently with a white toothpaste only. They should not brush their gums and should
not brush with a whitening or baking soda toothpaste.
● Mild pain relievers are okay to take post treatment if there is any sensitivity. You will also be provided with
desensitizing gel for any sensitivity
Q Aftercare
A: Avoid for the first 24-36 hours; coffee, tea, soda, red wine, tomato sauce, red meat, dark colored fruits or vegetables, any other heavily colored foods as it can stain your pearly whites while they are still processing up to 24 hours.
Q How much will it lighten?
A 3-5 shades is the typical number of shades lifted.
Q How long does it last?
A Depending on your care and lifestyle your results can last between 6-12 months.
Q What if my past whitening didn’t turn out as good as I was hoping?
A: Everyone’s teeth have a natural whitening point and that is something to consider. Everyone’s teeth respond differently to the treatment but 4 shades is average for a client’s first session. Lifestyle and genetics are a big factor with teeth whitening.
Q What if I have sensitive teeth?
A: Don’t stress! We have a gel that is applied before the whitening process that helps desensitize the teeth before we begin.
Q Will it affect my previous dental work (Crowns, Veneers)?
A It will bring any previous dental work back to its original color.
