Fall is officially here, baby!! A universally favored season, fall brings with it new weather, new colors, and new trends. We’ve been keeping track of some of our favorite makeup looks and watching them evolve to fit the new season and let us just say, we’re so excited to start rocking these. We know many of you are working from home, but don’t let that stop you from getting ready for the day! Who cares if you’ve been wearing the same sweats for three days – if your makeup is poppin’, no one will even notice.

Some of the looks we’re seeing are variations of makeup trends that we saw this summer, but the colors that are used reflect the darker, cooler tones that are typical of fall. Do with these what you want, get creative, and tag us so we can see how you put your own spin on them!

1. Amp up your blush and bronzer.

Derived from a summer trend, we’re predicting this one will last well into the fall this year. Sharp contouring is a thing of the past – instead, try using blush to define your face shape. As the air gets crisper, give yourself some rosy cheeks, but don’t stop there! Dust your nose, your chin, and even your forehead with blush. Start with a light hand, and build it up as desired. Follow up with a messy application of bronzer to give yourself some glow.

Play around with colors, too! Blush doesn’t only have to be light pink. You could try a deeper pink, one with redder tones, or even an orange. Find a shade that complements your skin tone, and experiment with matching your blush color to the other colors in your makeup look.

2. Soft brown eyeliner.

As with sharp contouring, gone are the days of harsh black cat eye looks – at least for now. Instead, opt for a brown eyeliner or even eyeshadow to line your lids. Create a soft wing and buff it out. You can combine this with eyeshadow on the rest of your lid, or leave it as is. Another way to get creative here is to try out different shades for your liner. We’ve seen this done with plain brown eyeliner, sparkly bronze eyeshadow, and even contrasting light and dark brown shades. The world of eyeliner is your oyster!

3. Bronzy eyeshadow.

A classic fall makeup trend is dark, bronzy eyeshadow. We love seeing different variations of this – maybe a cut crease, perhaps a smokey eye, possibly some glitter. The perfect way to achieve this color palette is to use… bronzer! Don’t limit yourself to just using bronzer on your cheeks – it actually makes the perfect eyeshadow, and is amazing for buffing out your under eyes. This trick will tie your whole look together, especially if you use the same bronzer on the rest of your face.

4. Natural glow… everywhere.

Another trend that we’re seeing bleed over from summer is the all-over glowy look. We’ve found that this is best achieved when you start at the skin level. Products such as Glossier’s Futerdew or other facial oils create a dewy, glowing base for your makeup. The glow will shine through your foundation and concealer, giving you that natural glowy look all over your face. Another trick for having naturally glowy skin is perfecting your skincare routine – check out our skincare recommendations here. Once you’ve got the natural sheen you desire, accentuate the high points of your face with a powder highlighter for some extra shine.

5. Dark lips.

Would it even be a fall makeup trends article if we didn’t include dark lips? They are the essential element for a fall ~lewk~. From deep reds to dark purples to browns, wearing a bold lip is the cherry on top of your makeup. For an extra dramatic effect, try keeping the rest of your makeup glowy and natural – minimal eyeshadow, perhaps just some concealer, blush, a few fake freckles, and mascara. From here, add your bold lop as a pop of color. If dark lips are out of your comfort zone, start slow. Try taking your normal lip color down a few shades, or ease into things with a lip tint. As you get more comfortable, you can try out the darker, vamp-y colors. You will wow your Zoom-mates and turn heads wherever you go!

I think we can all agree that fall is a superior season. The fashion is impeccable, the weather is perfect, and the vibes are cozy. We’ve had so much fun trying out these makeup trends, and we think they’re the perfect addition to an already perfect season! We can’t wait to see how you all put your own twist on them!
