The cursed fall daylight savings is slowly creeping closer. No hate toward winter, but the months when it’s pitch dark until 7:00 a.m. are brutal. The days of jumping out of bed bright eyed and bushy tailed with ample time to complete a full makeup routine are no longer. We’re taking every extra minute of sleep we can get our hands on, and that means that for many of us, morning routines fall to the wayside.
But just because our days get shorter, it doesn’t mean we need to look any less presentable at our jobs, or in our classes, or whatever day to day responsibilities we have. Enter: the lash lift and tint. This magical little combination practically eliminates the need for mascara, and will have your morning routine down to a matter of minutes. They’re two of our favorite services to perform, and as a combination they enhance your lashes, while keeping them looking completely natural.
Let’s break them down, one at a time.
First off, there’s the lash lift. Lash lifts are essentially a low maintenance perm for your lashes. The result is lashes that are lifted and curled without ever needing a lash curler. Your lashes are curled from root to tip so that their full length is on display. Using a safely formulated chemical solution, a technician will shape your lashes around a curling rod. After, a lifting lotion is applied and the curling rod is removed to reveal newly-fanned lashes. Finally, a setting lotion is combed through your lashes, and you’ll be out the door. Quick, simple, and long-lasting!
There are a few things to keep in mind before getting your eyelashes lifted:
- Before you go, you’ll want to make sure your lashes are completely clean. Bits of leftover mascara could make it more difficult for the adhesive solution to stick.
- Within the first 24 hours after the lift, it’s imperative to keep your lashes dry, and to avoid touching them.
- On an ongoing basis, if you wear mascara, try to stick to a water-based one so that you don’t have to scrub too hard to remove it. The harsher you are on your lifted lashes, the less time they’ll last. With that said, if you take gentle care of them, your lashes can maintain their height and volume for up to two months!
Another thing to note about lash lifts is that they’re customizable – you can choose how “tightly” you want your lashes curled. That also means that if you want to go for the full effect, you can pair your lift with a lash tint.
Eyelash tinting adds color and definition to your lashes, giving the effect of mascara without mascara itself. Tinting your lashes will make them look fuller and darker, and more intense. After your lashes are lifted (if you’re pairing the two), a cream-based, semi-permanent dye is painted onto them. It only takes about 10 minutes for the dye to set in, after which it will be wiped off and you’ll be left with flutter-worthy eyelashes.
Lash tinting is most effective on people who have naturally lighter-colored lashes, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get a tint if yours are dark. Even for brunettes tinting fills them out and gives them the illusion of being fuller and darker.
Sorry, mascara, but your days here are numbered. Lash lifts and tints, especially when combined, are truly the key to an effortless getting ready routine. Dare we say, you might never purchase a tube of mascara again.
