The fact of the matter is, we would be remiss if we didn’t do a post on our specialty, microblading. We’ve been doing it for years, and we think it’s about time you give it a try. Here’s our elevator pitch: gone will be the frustration of trying to even out your brows with countless gels and pomades. Instead, your brow routine will consist of a quick brush-through, and boom, you’re done.

So what exactly is microblading? It’s a form of semi-permanent cosmetics in which a technician makes tiny strokes throughout your brows to achieve ideal shape, color, and density. Basically, a technician will “tattoo” the brow hairs on with tiny, fine-point needles that are perfect for creating hair-like strokes. Don’t get freaked out by the word “tattoo,” though, because like we mentioned, microblading is only semi-permanent.

Microblading is long-lasting, but not totally permanent. Because the needles are so fine, microblading doesn’t go as deep into the skin as tattooing does – it’s more surface level – and thus, will not last forever. Typically, the pigment fades after about 18 months, but can last up to three years depending on your skin. After the initial dose of pigment begins to fade, you’ll need to see your technician again for a touch up. Touch ups are recommended every 6 months to a year, depending again on your skin type and how bold you want your brows to look.

It’s also totally customizable to your face. Our technicians work with you to figure out what compliments your face the best – from there, you’ll pick a color and shape that look multidimensional and natural. Each stroke looks like an individual hair, and your technician will place them in a manner that works with the natural curve of your brows. Many technicians will also use a brow ruler to help them determine a natural contour and shape. Our artists spend half of your first appointment measuring and drawing everything up to ensure you leave with the best brows you could imagine. After the first appointment you’ll have a second follow-up to perfect them.

If you’ve gotten this far and you’re still a bit wary of the process, we’ve got your back. Here are some FAQs that might ease your mind:

What’s the difference between microblading and tattooing/permanent cosmetics?

Microblading is a semi- permanent cosmetic which allows you versatility going forward. You will be able to adjust your brows as needed while looking natural.

How do you choose the brow design?

We work together to find a shape that works for your face shape and coloring. We also ask you to bring in pictures of brows that you like. As for the color, we will test multiple to find the best one that fits you. We are also able to mix pigments to find the perfect color that suits you. Lastly, the brow design will follow your natural hair patterns to provide you with brows that look natural and complimenting.

Does microblading hurt?

A numbing cream is applied before and during the appointment to ensure that it is a comfortable experience. You will feel pressure and might feel it as a little scratchy.

What is an Enhancement Session?

The enhancement session is 4-6 weeks after the initial appointment. This is to allow the brows to heal as well as to give the client time to get adjusted to their brows. At the enhancement session we will talk about if the client wishes to make any changes in regards to color, thickness, density etc. We will then touch up the brows according to those preferences.

Filling in your brows every day can be tedious. Opting for a semi-permanent solution like microblading is an amazing way to take this nuisance off your plate. As always, if you’re nervous about taking the leap, we’re here to help! We offer free phone consultations so that you can talk through all of your questions and find the solution that’s best for you.
