We’re so excited to be launching our new monthly series, Spotlight Features! Once a month, we’ll pick someone or something who we think deserves a little extra time in the spotlight. To kick things off, we’re highlighting one of our favorite brands, Dermalogica! (Cue the choir.) Not only do we carry Dermalogica in-store, it’s a house fave amongst many of our staff members for skincare.

Okay, enough gushing. Here are some of the (many) reasons why we at Ero Edge love Dermalogica:

Its roots.

Dermalogica founder, Jane Wurwand, started her skincare line with a view of skin health, rather than beauty in mind. Where other brands were focused pampering, they failed to produce the results that skincare is indicative of – care for your skin. Jane wanted her line to be free of common ingredients and irritants that commonly cause breakouts (including lanolin, SD alcohol, mineral oil, artificial colors, and fragrances), and she wanted it to focus on improving skin health, rather than simply glorifying beauty alone. She also realized the importance of educating skincare practitioners so that they can give their clients the best advice and care. The result? The Dermalogica that we now know and love, a now decades-old institution.

Its products.

As we mentioned, Dermalogica is focused on using ultra-clean ingredients that are actually good for your skin. Imagine! Each product is made in the United States, and they only include ingredients that are proven to work. They’re also super sustainable – Dermalogica is recognized by PETA and Leaping Bunny as cruelty-free, they are certified vegan for all but three of their products, and their formulas are completely clean. That means you don’t have to worry about your skin being damaged by artificial colors or fragrances, oils, alcohols, or other yucky ingredients. The company is also striving to have 90% of their packaging be recyclable or biodegradable by the end of 2020. The environment is cheering!

In addition to being ultra-clean, we love Dermalogica because of how customizable it can be. Their product line ranges from toners to moisturizers to sunscreens, and everything in between. You can build a regime that is perfect for your unique skin because they have products that are carefully curated for each and every skin type, condition, or goal. We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again: everyone’s skin is different, so skincare is not a one-size-fits all! You need to find a solution that’s right for your skin. Dermalogica even offers a face mapping analysis so that you can figure out just what your skin might need to succeed.

 

Its social impact.

Dermalogica was founded by a woman who truly knew the power of education and skills training. The company strives to empower women and transform them from job seekers to job creators. Can we get a heck yes?? They have trained over 100,000 professionals so far, and their reach continues to grow. Additionally, the company has funded small loans to over 100,000 women to start or grow their businesses, granted scholarships to almost 60 young women, and has provided access to education to many more.
