Have you heard?? This summer, which has yet to officially begin, has a catch phrase already: “vaxxed and waxed”. After a long year of shutdowns, things are finally opening up again, so grab your beach towels and a good book because it’s time to get some sun!
With all of the summer activities you’re going to be partaking in, you probably don’t want to waste your time on mundane and unnecessary tasks. You’ll be too busy spending time with your friends to worry about such inconsequential practices as, say (just off the top of our heads), shaving. Enter: the “waxed” part of “vaxxed and waxed”.
We know, we know, waxing is not some mind blowing new concept. It is, however, a really good option for the summer that will make your life a lot easier, and your skin a lot smoother. Waxing every few weeks is much more low maintenance than shaving every few days. When you start to shave more frequently in the summer, it’s common to experience more razor burn and ingrown hairs. Waxing regularly kills two birds in one stone – it’s less upkeep for a cleaner result!
Another benefit to waxing regularly is that your hair will begin to grow back finer and finer the more you do it. This means that, should you need to do a little upkeep in between sessions, the hair is much easier to shave off. Waxing won’t make your hair disappear permanently, but it can definitely help thin it out.
We talked about the do’s and don’ts of waxing in a previous post, so let’s take this time to go over the different options that you’ll have when you book your appointment:
Arm, leg, armpit and upper lip waxing is pretty self-explanatory. The confusion begins to creep in when talking about “bikini waxing” versus “Brazilian waxing”. The terms are often used interchangeably, but we’re willing to bet you’ll be much better off knowing the difference.
A bikini wax removes the hair along the top and sides of your bikini line, or whatever would peek out of your bikini bottoms. A full bikini wax removes as much hair as you want from the front part. Brizilian waxing removes… everything. If you want it to, that is – an added butt strip removes everything from the back, but you can choose to leave a small strip in the front if you’re more comfortable that way. Which variety of wax service you choose is completely up to you and your comfort level. If you’re new to waxing, perhaps start with a bikini or full bikini – then you can work your way towards a Brazilian.
If and where you decide to get waxed is your decision and yours alone, but from our personal experience we can’t recommend it enough! Your time in the summer can be spent worry-free by the pool, rather than stressing about whether or not your shave schedule will line up with your next stint in a bikini.
