For this week’s Look at Local we’re venturing outside of our Central City neighborhood, crossing State St. and exploring a new part of town. Just off of Pierpont Avenue on 400 W you’ll find The Rose Establishment, a coffee shop that is just as dreamy as its name sounds. It’s a cafe/restaurant where your options are endless – grab a quick coffee to go, sit and study for a few hours, or enjoy a brunch with your friends – whatever vibe you’re feeling, The Rose Establishment will complement.

The atmosphere at The Rose Establishment can only be described as serene. Their drinks are beautifully made, the food is locally sourced, and everything down to the watercolor-esque menus has a touch of elegance.

Like many local businesses, they were affected heavily by the pandemic and its ensuing fallout, leading them to temporarily shutter their doors last October. However, we’re ecstatic to say that The Rose Establishment has reopened, and is ready to welcome the Salt Lake community with open arms! As of August 10th, The Rose Establishment is up and running again, this time with some big changes underway. As elaborated on their Instagram, they’ve made 3 big changes:

  1. To combat growing lines and long waits, The Rose Establishment is implementing table service! This will give customers the option to pop in for a quick drink if they want, or sit for a longer meal if they prefer. Billed as an opportunity to create new memories, their new table service is a great way to enjoy the full brunch experience with your loved ones. We’re all for it!
  2. It’s clearly important to them to support their fellow community members, and what better way to do that than a cross-restaurant collab? They have decided to partner with Chef Buzz Willey of their formerly-neighboring Pallet (which recently closed permanently). Together, they’ve expanded the already robust menu into a newer, more creative one. As a bonus, they’re sourcing almost all of their ingredients from local, organic providers! Yay for community! With this partnership comes a physical expansion into the space that was once Pallet, giving visitors even more space to eat, hang, wait around, study, or whatever their hearts desire.
  3. The third big change The Rose Establishment has undergone is staff. While many of their former employees had to move on during the store’s hiatus, they have a dedicated team of bright new faces ready to take on this latest chapter. Their leadership team has also stressed the importance of proper compensation, so they’ve chosen to eliminate tips and add an 18% service fee onto each purchase. If you’re feeling extra generous, of course, you can always add a bit more, but this makes transactions easier on customers and ensures that their staff gets the compensation they deserve.

We love how committed The Rose Establishment team is to being a positive force in our community. And on top of all the wonderful new operations they’ve set in place, the food and coffee is to die for. We’re so excited that this Salt Lake gem has opened its doors once again, and we highly recommend stopping by!
